If you thought the Star Awards 2025 were all about stiff speeches and polite applause, think again.

This year’s bash delivered more drama, chaos, and laugh-out-loud moments than a Channel 8 family reunion. We’re talking Christopher Lee’s trophy haul, Cynthia Koh’s first Best Supporting Actress win, and a selfie stampede led by Chow Yun Fat that nearly broke the internet.

Grab your popcorn, because these are the best moments from Star Awards 2025 you definitely didn’t see coming.

The eight most unforgettable moments of Star Awards 2025

1. Christopher Lee’s four-trophy sweep

Christopher Lee owned the night, snagging Best Actor for Kill Sera Sera, the Special Achievement Award, Best Programme Host for Dishing With Chris Lee S2, and seeing his show win Best Entertainment Programme.

His emotional acceptance speeches — especially his heartfelt thanks to wife Fann Wong and son Zed — had the crowd cheering like mad.

“You received this award a long time ago. You are my inspiration and motivation,” the veteran actor said to his wife, followed by a shoutout to his 10-year-old son Zed. “I want to raise you to be a good person. Thank you for being my son.”

As the Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes list grew shorter and the tension in the theatre ramped up, Paige Chua’s nerves were on full display.

In the end, Paige was the very last recipient called — making her win not just a triumph, but a huge relief for both her and her fans.

This marks her ninth Top 10 Most Popular Female Artistes trophy, a remarkable milestone that cements her place among local TV’s most beloved stars.

Paige, 44, who missed out on a nomination in 2024 due to eligibility rules, was candid about her emotions: “I started to panic when my name wasn’t announced,” she confessed. “I didn’t get the chance to win this award last year, so thank you to everyone for bringing the award back to me.”

3. Huang Shinan’s Sweet Red Carpet Surprise for Pan Lingling

One of the most heartwarming moments at Star Awards 2025 came courtesy of Huang Shinan, who turned the red carpet into a mini-rom-com. As cameras flashed, he surprised his wife Pan Lingling with a single flower and sealed the gesture with a quick peck on the lips — much to the delight of fans. It was a scene so cute, we think that every guy could take a few notes from Shinan’s playbook.

The couple, who have been married for more than 25 years, are one of local entertainment’s most enduring pairs. Together, they have two sons, Beckham and Kynaston.

4. Chow Yun Fat’s legendary wefie

It was the moment everyone at Star Awards 2025 — and honestly, everyone watching at home — was not expecting. Chow Yun Fat, the night’s most celebrated guest, turned nostalgia into history when he finally got the group photo he’d missed out on three decades ago.

As he took the stage, Fa-Ge (big brother Fat) reminisced about his days at “the old Mediacorp,” sharing, “30 years I didn’t have a chance to take a group photo with everyone. Come, come! Is everyone here?” His excitement was infectious, waving veterans up on stage, calling out for familiar faces, and even pulling Lee Nanxing into a big hug.

In the midst of the joyful chaos, Chen Liping piped up with a laugh, “I’m afraid you don’t remember me!” — a line that drew more laughter as the stage filled with hugs and happy reunions. Meanwhile, host Guo Liang’s attempts to keep things on schedule (“抓紧时间!” — “let’s hurry up!”) were thoroughly ignored as everyone basked in the moment.

With the crowd assembled, Fa-Ge joked, “We did not change! We looked like this 30 years ago, and we still look the same 30 years later!”

Finally, the Hong Kong star called out, “Okay! Let’s all take a selfie!” And with that, he stretched out his arm, gathered the legends of Singapore television close, and snapped the most iconic wefie of the night —a photo decades in the making, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the kind of joy you just can’t fake.

5. Cynthia Koh’s first Best Supporting Actress win

After more than three decades as a household name and six previous nominations, Cynthia Koh finally scored her first Best Supporting Actress win for Hope Afloat. Known for her memorable debut in the ‘90s and a career packed with standout roles, Cynthia’s long-overdue victory was one of the night’s most emotional moments — proof that sometimes, good things really do come to those who wait.

“I’ve worked hard for so many years to reach this point. There were times I failed and even questioned myself, but I always reminded myself never to give up,” the 51-year-old said.

6. Chow Yun Fat taking away Chen Biyu’s awards after knowing her fave idol is Andy Lau

One of the funniest moments at Star Awards 2025 happened when Chow Yun Fat took center stage — not just to present, but to prank. As Love972 DJ Chen Biyu received her award, host Guo Liang couldn’t resist teasing her by announcing that her real idol is Andy Lau.

Fa-Ge, quick on the uptake and never one to pass up a good joke, immediately pretended to roll his eyes and take back Biyu’s trophy, drawing huge laughs from the audience and everyone on stage.

7. Marcus Chin and his hilarious thank you speech

The actor-host continues to be the life of the party even at 70 years old. With 50 years lighting up the local entertainment scene, Marcus had everyone laughing the moment he took the stage.

“For the passion! Not the money!” he announced while gripping his fifth Top 10 Most Popular Artistes trophy, drawing cheers. “My true love is radio — getai and movies are just my part-time gigs!”

With a twinkle in his eye, Marcus wrapped up with a promise: “Be it tomorrow or next year, I want to continue (to win this award).” His blend of wit, warmth, and showbiz spirit is as infectious as ever — and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

8. Jeremy Chan aspires to be the tallest guy in the room

Jeremy Chan kept things light and hilarious at Star Awards 2025, nabbing another Top 10 Most Popular Artistes trophy. After thanking his wife, Jesseca Liu, he couldn’t resist poking fun at himself:

“Every time I win, I grow an inch taller,” he joked. “I wish I could keep growing an inch every year!”

Short, sweet, and perfectly cheeky — Jeremy’s trademark humour had the audience in stitches. It’s no wonder Jess chose him; with wit like that, he’s always a head above the rest (and maybe a little taller with every win).
