10 Korean male celebrities who are also amazing dads
From “oppa” to “appa”

Korean celebrities are incredibly secretive about their private lives, to the point where some of them have gotten married and have two children without anyone ever finding out about it—until they finally clue us in. Which begs the question: how many of our favourite contemporary male Korean celebrities are actually married and with kids? Well, we’ve done the legwork for you and rounded them up for your viewing pleasure, just in time for Father’s Day. You’re welcome.
Song Joong-ki
The South Korean actor needs no introduction. With a string of hit dramas under his belt, this South Korean actor has long cemented his status as a household name and industry icon. But off-screen, he plays a very different role: dad. Married to British actress Katy Louise Saunders, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby boy, in 2023—followed by a daughter in November 2024.

Taeyang
BIGBANG’s Taeyang and South Korean actress Min Hyo-rin first crossed paths on the set of his “1AM” music video back in 2014—and sparks clearly flew. The couple began dating soon after, eventually tying the knot in 2018, just before Taeyang enlisted for military service. Fast forward to November 2021, they’ve since welcomed a baby boy into their family.
Choo Sung-hoon
Choo Sung-hoon, otherwise known as Yoshihiro Akiyama or by his moniker Sexyama, is a Japanese-Korean mixed martial artist and judoka who has made a name for himself in the industry. While he may be turning 50 this year, the star proves that age is just a number as he participated in Netflix’s highly raved reality series, Physical 100, where he starred in eight of the episodes, before being eliminated in the penultimate challenge, “The Punishment of Sisyphus”.
Aside from his thriving career, Sexyama and his wife, Shiho Yano, go way back, and if you didn’t already know, the two starred in the hit South Korean reality-variety show, The Return of Superman, with their daughter Choo Sarang, whom you might be very familiar with.

Hyun Bin
K-drama celebrity couple Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin first met on set for The Negotiation in 2018, however, the two got to bond even more during the filming of the hit series, Crash Landing On You. Soon after, the two started dating and decided to tie the knot in March 2022. Eventually, the two welcomed their first child, a baby boy, on November 27, 2022.
Rain
The global superstar that is Rain requires no introduction. Since his debut in 1998—before the rise of K-POP idols who’re taking over the world with their mammoth social media followings—Rain was stealing hearts all over the world; including America, where he won the coveted MTV Award for his performance in the Hollywood film Ninja Assassin. Fast-forward about two decades later, he’s still going on strong and doesn’t seem to have aged a day. How he does it is a mystery we’re definitely interested in figuring out. He’s also managed all of this while being a father of two girls with his wife, South Korean actress Kim Tae Hee.
Eli Kim
Ellison Kyoung-jae Kim, otherwise known as Eli Kim, is a Korean American singer and actor best known for being a former member of South Korean boy band U-KISS. Together with his former wife, who’s 11 years older than him, they share a son named Michael Min-soo Kim, who’s already a television (TV) star. The little Kim stars alongside his ex-idol father on the reality TV show Men Who Do Housework, where U-KISS members Soohuyn and Jun were filmed babysitting him. How adorable is that?
Park Joon Hyung
Best known for being the leader and rapper of South Korean pop group g.o.d., Park Joon-hyung has a daughter with his non-celebrity wife who’s 13 years his junior. A quick look at his Instagram and you’ll see it filled with photos of his little girl, throwbacks and of course, his current ventures.
Gary
Gary, also known as Kang Gary, is a South Korean rapper, songwriter and television personality on shows like Running Man. Previously, the star used to belong to former hip-hop duo Leessang. He’s also the father of Ha-oh, with whom he appears on the reality television series The Return of Superman.
Tablo
Korean-Canadian Daniel Armand Lee, better known by his stage name Tablo, is a former member of South Korean hip-hop group Epik High. After disbanding, he became the founder of independent music label HIGHGRND, housing bands such as Hyukoh and The Black Skirts. He is also the proud father of Haru, his daughter.
Minhwan
Former South Korean rock band F.T. Island drummer Minhwan and former girl group LABOUM member Yulhee first got married in 2018 and had their son Jae-yul. Two years later, in February 2020, the two welcomed twin daughters. However, the marriage between the two didn’t work out, and they ended up splitting in 2023, with Choi Min-hwan getting custody of their children.
