Lunch is no longer a rushed, unsatisfying affair with Salt Grill & Sky Bar – the upmarket Australian restaurant is now offering an Express Lunch option for busy executives who want to pop by for a quick, well-made lunch, accompanied by a picturesque view from the 55th and 56th floor of ION Orchard.

Healthier alternatives such as the char grilled tuna nicoise, green beans, tomato, egg, olives, capsicum, and white anchovies as well as the pumpkin risotto with goat’s feta and curry dressing are also available.

The latter ensures that even vegetarian diets are catered for, which makes for a better dining experience for all guests.

Ambience: Sometimes, all we need is a breath of fresh air to clear our frazzled minds amidst the pressing deadlines and pressure of work. Salt Grill & Sky Bar does this wonderfully – the place is well lit with natural sunlight during lunchtime, and the floor to ceiling windows create a more open and spacious feel. The roof top views are distractingly breathtaking, and you can be sure that for the next hour or so, your head will be up in the clouds during lunchtime (and quite literally, at that).

Must-tries / specialties: We recommend the Pumpkin risotto with goat’s feta and curry dressing ($25++), which is both sweet and savoury, thanks to the combination of pumpkin and the curry spice. The spice provides a nice contrast against the sweetness of the pumpkin, and is not overpowering on the palate. The texture of the rice was just right – al dente and creamy.

We also enjoyed the Char grilled tuna nicoise, with green beans, tomato, egg, olives, capsicum and white anchovies ($25++).The crisp greens provided the perfect setting for the smoky flavour of the tuna to stand out, and the olives left a slightly salty, pickled aftertaste in the mouth.

If you have a bit more time to spare, you could have a glass of Merlot to go with. Lean back, and unwind – doesn’t that sound like the perfect mid-day respite?

Prices: All Express Lunch options are priced at $25++. We think that this is a great deal, considering that mains at this establishment start from $42++ if you were to eat it on any other occasion.

Verdict:

Food review rating: 4 out of 5
We love the scrumptious and comforting food options available, and the gorgeously sleek interiors don’t hurt, either.
