You’re surrounded by glaring sunlight, there’s sweat trickling down your face, everything hurts and you know you’ve got possibly hours yet to go … but thankfully you know you look good.

A movie scene? No. This is how I imagine it must be like to be tennis champion Maria Sharapova as she buckles down at the Australian Open.

Why is she looking so good? Because she has almost $5,000 worth of Tiffany diamonds dangling from her ears; yes, on court, during a tennis match.

Wow, some people are just so lucky.

Tiffany & Co. have a partnership with Sharapova which means she gets to wear fabulous Tiffany earrings at each Grand Slam event she plays in – the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open.

At each event she wears a different design from the collection called Tiffany for Maria Sharapova.

At this year’s Australian Open she will be wearing a gorgeous pair of open-work earrings from renowned Tiffany designer and architect Frank Gehry (pictured right).

“The earrings reflect the spontaneous and graceful lines of Gehry’s architecture,” Sharapova says. “They have a strong and distinctive look, yet they’re elegant and light enough to wear on the court. I am thrilled to wear them at the Australian Open.”

Gehry created the free-form design, from the concept of a basic leaf shape, in 18 karat white gold and round brilliant diamonds.

Personally I’d be terrified to wear these gorgeous things to do anything more strenuous than say, stepping into a limo, but Tiffany & Co. are confident in the quality of their creations, seemingly unconcerned that anything could happen to these precious earrings.

The Leaves earrings in 18k white gold with diamonds by Frank Gehry for Tiffany & Co. will be available from Tiffany & Co. in Singapore by request for $4,750.

Tiffany & Co. is located at Ngee Ann City on Orchard Road. For more information go to tiffany.com
