H&M new collaboration rumours

H&M new collaboration rumoursMaison Martin Margiela will be the next high fashion label to collaborate with H&M, it has been reported.

According to WWD, the avant-garde brand is designing a one-off collection for the Swedish retailer, although this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet.

After collaborations with iconic design names including Versace, Lanvin and Marni, the reported partnership with the Belgian brand will arguably be the chain’s edgiest yet.

Known for its industry-leading contemporary creations that blur the lines between masculine and feminine angles, an affordable high street range would no doubt have shoppers storming the stores to get their hands on one of the desirable garments.

Fashion fans can expect clean-lined separates and edgy designs that push the boundaries between art and fashion.

The brand’s founder Martin Margiela was confirmed to have left the label in October 2009 after alleged creative differences with the company’s stakeholders.

Raf Simons and Haider Ackermann were reportedly offered his role, but no successor was ever named and the collections are currently being designed by an in-house team. – COVER MEDIA

UPDATE: The H&M and Maison Martin Margiela has been officially confirmed by H&M.

The launch date worldwide and online has been revealed to be November 15, 2012, and the collaboration will – like previous H&M designer collaborations – include garments and accessories for both men and women.

“Maison Martin Margiela is one of the most important and influential fashion houses of the past three decades. I am so excited by this radical collaboration which will give fashion lovers around the world the chance to wear special pieces by Maison Martin Margiela. This collaboration will be a great and memorable fashion moment“, says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.

It may come as a shocker to many fashion insiders because the brand is famously mysterious – it doesn’t advertise – and taking on this collaboration is simply not part of their DNA, but here’s what the brand has to say about the H&M collaboration.

“We are very happy to present Maison Martin Margiela pieces with H&M, offering a new interpretation of our vision. The democracy of our fashion has always been at the center of our creativity, and the collaboration with H&M allows us to push this instinct further. We will bring together the contrasting universes of the two houses in ways that will surprise all,” goes the official quote in the press release.

We’d say surprise is an understatement, but nevertheless, this is one collaboration that will yet again whip everyone into an excited frenzy.
