In lieu of the upcoming Chinese New Year, Longchamp has teamed up with Tao Liang (you’ll know him as ‘Mr Bags’), one of China’s most influential fashion bloggers, to come up with a limited edition collection of bags.
With over 3 million followers on Weibo and 30k followers on Instagram, the fashion influencer has definitely made something out of his personal passion for bags, with an impressive outreach spanning across international waters. Mr Bags has always been fond of Longchamp and its ingenious designs — and so when Longchamp Artistic Director Sophie Delafontaine offered him creative carte blanche, there was only one place to start…
The limited edition collection, which will be available exclusively at the Paragon boutique from 11 January 2018 onwards, boasts of the Longchamp Le Pliage® Cuir in a variety of colours and sizes. The recurring element in the collection appears to be a playful embossing of a pair of paw print — a tongue-in-cheek nod towards the Year of the Dog.
If you’ve noticed how the iconic foldable bag appears slightly more structured or stiff than what you’re familiar with, it’s because it has been reconstructed in lamb leather, which gives it its rigid form.
The medium-sized tote is available in black with the prints outlined in white, and in two more feminine shades – pink and sky blue – with the prints in white fur. It also exists in a cute clutch format, which can be attached to the outside of the bag like a charm or schlepped as it is. Its zipper and two handles make it perfect for taking out to Chinese New Year visiting, with ample space for shuffling all your ang paos around too.
With reference to Mr Bags’ constant travelling, the collection also has a travel bag in black lambskin leather. It features a zippered pocket integrated in the back of the bag to hold your phone and travel documents – no more panicking at passport control!
