It seems as though Christopher Bailey is refusing to leave Burberry without going out with a bang. Just as the fashion powerhouse has collaborated with Chinese idol Kris Wu back in December 2017, Burberry is on a streak of delivering punchy collection after punchy collection.
Having announced its collaboration with Russian fashion designer and photographer Gosha Rubchinskiy back in June 2017, the capsule collection — which was previously previewed as a part of Gosha’s SS18 menswear collection — will finally be launching in stores this coming Saturday (Jan 6).
Albeit presented as ‘menswear pieces’, the collection’s copious oversized silhouettes, universal trench coats and accessories can easily double up as womenswear too, adhering to the new age Co-Ed movement. A total of eight pieces have been created as part of the collaboration, which includes Burberry’s signature elements reinterpreted through a street wear lens — in oversized fits and two-tone gabardin. Burberry’s classic checks get a new lease of life in the form of short-sleeved shirts and tailored shorts. More distinctly, the trench coat signature to the brand is reimagined in a chic oversized shape, bearing an embroidery of Gosha’s initial against a two-tone honey and navy cotton gabardine.
The collection also introduces a range of hats designed in partnership with British milliner Stephen Jones. There’s a bucket hat, a baseball cap and a duckbill cap, all coming in cotton gabardine and check cotton twill while sporting detachable ear flaps.
Gosha x Burberry collection, available from January 6 onwards at Dover Street Market Singapore.
