NET-A-PORTER and its menswear-centric counterpart MR PORTER is teaming up with Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia on something unprecedented—a dual collaboration packed with never-before-seen ready-to-wear, bags, jewellery and accessories in limited-edition colorways and prints.

Both collections take their cue from the archetypal archives from the audacious fashion house’s Spring 2018 collection — where Gvasalia took disparate elements and themes such as punk tartans and floral frocks and worked them into a collection oozing of attitude

This is the first time that Balenciaga, under the direction of Gvasalia, has collaborated with a retailer on a men’s and women’s capsule range.

Says Gvasalia in a statement, “The exclusive collection for NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER creates a complete wardrobe of Balenciaga styles known from previous seasons. We have redesigned this selection of styles for women and men in new and special fabrics and dedicated colors.”

The 53-piece Balenciaga x NET-A-PORTER range comprises of T-shirts, hoodies, woven button-up shirts, dresses, denim and outerwear. The brand’s iconic Pantashoe gets reimagined in cobalt blue with a chain motif, while other Balenciaga accessories such as reflective aluminum bags feature chain straps. You’ll also see the Knife Bootie and Speed sneaker designed in a shade of grey — a colourway exclusive only to the retailer.

MR PORTER’s selection will consist of 34 pieces with a focus on Balenciaga’s best-known styles, namely oversized hoodies, denim jackets and sweaters. Many of the ready-to-wear pieces are embroidered with the new-and-already-iconic “BB Mode” logo. An exclusive version of the Triple S sneaker in green, and two Speed Sock sneakers with “BB” detailing will also be launched on MR PORTER.

NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER x Balenciaga, price ranges from £75 (S$136.61) for a pair of socks to £3,575 for a biker jacket. Available at NET-A-PORTER and MR PORTER from 22 January onwards.
