Double duty - how to wear workwear on the weekends

Maximise your wardrobe with these ensembles

Very often we find ourselves digging through our wardrobe looking for something to wear for a weekend brunch or date. But we always end up with the same problem - we seem to have worn every single piece there is.

Here’s an idea if you’re struggling to find new outfits without breaking the bank: switch it up with your existing workwear. These pieces that you probably already have in your wardrobe are structured and serious. But when paired with casual pieces like track pants and white t-shirts, it does wonders.

Here are six workwear staples you can incorporate seamlessly into weekend ensembles.

1) The Business Suit

(L-R) Single-breasted checked wool blazer, $2,530 and matching wool slim-leg trousers, $635, by Valentino from matchesfashion.com; printed silk shirt, $1,345, by Gucci from mrporter.com and wool cap, $590, by Brunello Cucinelli.

Take a break from your usual weekday shirting and opt for a casual silk shirt instead. And, make that cap your accessory du jour.

2) The Corporate Blazer

A mini skirt puts a cheeky spin to the otherwise serious blazer. And when it comes to footwear, keep it fun and flirty.

3) The Tailored Trousers

Simplicity is the name of the game - it's perfectly fine to pair a casual T-shirt and leather sandals with your work pants. Those who love a little layering can add on a lightweight cardigan.

4) The Shirt Dress
