The British actor’s spokesman said: “In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalise their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.”

The couple have a son, Flynn, born in January 2011; the pair have been together since 2007 and were married in 2010.

E! News reported that the couple were still being photographed together at the beginning of October, 2013, but were last seen together in public at the opening night of Bloom’s Broadway production of Romeo and Juliet on September 19. The couple still seemed very happy together, pictured cuddling up on the red carpet.

Still, the Daily Mail opines that their busy work schedules could have helped end the marriage; Bloom was on location in South Africa to film Zulu in 2012, and also in New Zealand for two Hobbit films. Kerr was in high demand on the catwalks as well with numerous trips to Europe for fashion weeks and campaigns, as well as the annual Victoria’s Secret shows and promotions.

The Daily Mail also reported that “the couple’s relationship was reportedly shaken in December when Miranda was linked to actor, Leonardo DiCaprio. The model raised eyebrows in New York after being seen partying and with the star. Miranda partied the night away at Leo’s birthday on November 10, then the pair enjoyed a dinner with friends on the 21st, before they were joined by Cameron Diaz at a club opening on the 30th.”

Despite all this Kerr’s “people” reportedly denied the claims, with a “source close to the couple” saying all three celebrities were “just friends”.
