Over the weekend, we were at Make the Future festival to catch the live performances of homegrown singer Nathan Hartono and English songbird Pixie Lott.
Held at Changi Exhibition Centre, the festival was a four-day event that showcased ideas and innovations on what energy consumption might be like in the future by participants around Asia, with Nathan and Pixie providing some much-needed levity to the proceedings.
One of the highlights was the Shell Eco-marathon, a first for Make the Future Singapore. 123 teams of student competitors from the region were given a year to conceptualise and build their very own energy-efficient cars.
And on Saturday, they raced to the finishing line with limited fuel; the furthest distance clocked was 375km by Team Sadewa from Universitas Indonesia. The team clinched the top position and emerged winner of the marathon.
