I'm obsessed with the addictive light oil mist trend b.png

I’m pleased as punch to be reporting on this burgeoning beauty micro-trend, because why the hell not?

Behold the advent of what I’m tentatively referring to as “oil mists”, which fuses two of my fave obsessions ever: Oils and facial mists!

The concept is incredibly ingenious: Take the beautifying benefits of oil and dispense them via a refreshing aerosol mister. This takes the “kwali face” fear factor out of the equation somewhat – the oil doesn’t feel greasy and gross because it’s deposited in such diminutive droplets.

Some pointers for picking the right product. As always, scrutinise your labels and zero in on “good” plant-based oils like chamomile and rosemary, which are supremely soothing and smell so very sublime, too.

As for no-nos, be sure to steer clear of petrolatum and mineral oil, especially when they’re high up on the ingredients list: These synthetics are the “bad” pore-cloggers which give oils a damaging rep.

Recommendation-wise, Goodal’s Super Seed Oil Plus Skin Mist is as good a gateway product as any. This hero product from the newbie in the K-Beauty scene in Singapore comes complete with a carefully calibrated blend of seven botanical oils specially fermented to coax out their anti-oxidative and anti-inflammatory abilities.

The resulting mist does triple duty as a brightening softener, serum and lightweight hydrator; simply spritz on after your usual skincare as a pre-makeup base, then top off periodically through the day as an on-the-go pick-me-up.

And for taming your tresses, I present Spa Ceylon’s Hair Oil Mist for your consideration. The snazzy styling spray is stuffed with Ayurvedic herbs and essential oils custom concocted for each “dosha” or energy type; mystical mumbo-jumbo aside, this translates in “practical” terms to products for dry, normal or oily hair.

This particular product is perfect for taming pesky flyaways; spritz all over your head and lightly skim your palms across the surface for a photoshoot-ready sheen.

So yes, with lightweight oil mists poised to make a beauty breakthrough this year, there’s really no excuse for switching to a “fatty” diet. Your skin and hair will thank you!
