US artist Andy Warhol in 1966
Nars Cosmetics is taking the trend for artist collaborations to another level with the launch of an Andy Warhol-themed makeup line.

The brand has previously dedicated a makeup collection to fashion muse Daphne Guinness — who was a friend of the late artist — and the upcoming line is said to be their largest collaboration to date.

The collection, which has been created by the brand’s founder François Nars under a license with The Andy Warhol Foundation, will be launched in the US this October and globally one month later.

According to WWD the limited edition collection will evoke the “cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol,” while beauty fans can expect novel packaging, formulas and colours from the line.

For a long time, beauty brands have been teaming up with contemporary artists, with recent examples including a limited edition nail and polish line for Dior by abstract artist Anselm Reyle and MAC’s collaboration with Chinese photographer Chen Man. Meanwhile, one of Warhol’s greatest celebrity muses Marilyn Monroe is the source of inspiration for an upcoming beauty line for MAC Cosmetics set for release this October. — AFP RELAXNEWS
