It’s a known fact that most of us aren’t very blessed in the eyelash department. Born with stick-straight Asian lashes, we can’t help but to envy those who are born with thick, fluttery and voluminous sets of lashes.
That is why eyelash extensions are godsend. Not only does it help to enlarge our eyes, it also cut down the time spent on doing our makeup in the morning. With these perks and a painless process, we’re not sure what’s stopping you from trying it yourself.
But if you have already set your mind to getting eyelash extensions or have already gotten it for the first time, here’s the lowdown on how to care for them. With proper care and attention, they can last up to six weeks. Totally a bang for your buck!
Use oil-free cleansers

For longer-lasting luscious lashes, remember to keep them away from oil-based products. This includes eye makeup, makeup removers and cleansers which can weaken the adhesive used to glue the lashes on. We recommend using micellar water which is gentle and does not irritate the eyes.
When removing eye makeup, opt for cotton buds instead of cotton pads too. This prevents cotton fibres from getting stuck in your lashes and also gives more precision when removing any eye makeup.
Avoid water and steam

… For 24 hours at least. Depending on the parlour you patronise, the adhesive used can take from 24 hours to 48 hours to fully dry. During this period of time, stay away from saunas and hot yoga classes which will cause your face to produce more sweat and oil.
To prevent water from coming into direct contact with your lashes while cleansing, dip a washcloth into lukewarm water and gently remove the soap. Rinse and repeat this step till there’s no more residue.

Comb them upwards

Cultivate the habit of using a clean spoolie to comb your lashes upwards everyday. This ensures that it maintains its curl and also prevents dirt from getting stuck in between.
Resist the urge to touch them

We know that you can’t help but to admire those lashes, but do not touch or tug on them. Apart from the dirt on your fingers transferring onto your lashes (and possibly getting into your eyes), you will also damage your natural eyelashes as extensions are glued to them.
Do not sleep face down

One of the reasons why us girls get eyelash extensions is to wake up looking awake and beautiful. So if you’re one of those people who sleep with their face digging into the pillow, you’ll need to change your sleeping position during the time span of your extensions. Sleeping face down causes the lashes to change its shape and can also lead to them falling out. That’s not what we paid for, right?
