While many of us wish for a Snow White-like complexion, it’s often difficult to get your skin to cooperate so we can be the ‘fairest of them all’.
However, after 10 years of tests and experiments, Christian Dior Parfums has reportedly discovered exactly how to get the translucent clearness that many Asian women crave.
In 2001, Dior was the first to understand the fundamental role that DNA plays in creating fair skin. Fast forward 10 years, and Dior has outdone itself by discovering how the “five key markers of translucency”, as the brand describes them, can be achieved by targeting the skin’s DNA.
According to Dior, DNA directly regulates key molecules that affect the five features of skin transparency – evenness, luminosity, moisture, plumpness and fineness. By targeting this DNA, these key molecules will in turn be controlled to work the way they should to give you fair, translucent and youthful-looking skin.
Based on their findings, Dior has developed a unique whitening program called T.E.C (or Transparency Enhancing Complex), which is made up of a blend of natural ingredients and Dior’s whitening technologies.
To combat excessive melanin production, T.E.C works on tyrosinase – an enzyme in the body that generates melanin – by reducing its production at the DNA level and thus reducing excessive melanin buildup. T.E.C also works hard to prevent melanin oxidation, stimulate production of epidermal lipids for moisturised skin, boost collagen synthesis and minimize sebum production, according to Dior.
Most importantly, says Dior, the whitening action must be enforced round the clock, for 24 hours a day. During the day, the skin’s DNA must be protected from UV rays and pollution to prevent excessive DNA damage. At night, the repair work begins on parts of the DNA that are damaged during the previous day.
So Dior recently developed a new 24-hour whitening program called DiorSnow 2011. Their latest range of products under the DiorSnow line includes a White Reveal Essence, White Reveal Fresh Crème, Intensive Night Concentrate, Strengthening Night Crème, UV Shield, UV Shield BB Crème and a White Silky Veil Compact.
Getting that fair-as-snow, transparent skin is non-stop work but as beauty enthusiasts can surely attest, looking beautiful is no easy job anyway.
The DiorSnow 2011 range starts from $74 for the Instant Spot Corrector to $190 for the White Reveal Essence.
