While we might never be able to add that stunning sequined Balmain number to our closet, L’oreal Paris recently teamed up with the French label’s creative designer, Oliver Rousteing, to bring us the next best (and affordable) thing.

The capsule collection that was launched during Paris Fashion Week features 12 different lipstick shades that are formulated to flatter different skin tones. The concept of inclusivity in fashion and beauty features prominently in this collaboration.

This idea of beauty in diversity is evident in its campaign tagline “United, we are invincible”, which shows Oliver Rousteing marching confidently with 12 renowned models of different ethnicities including supermodels Doutzen Kroes, Lara Stone and Ming Xi.

Encased in Balmain’s signature gold and opulent embellishments, each of the 12 lipsticks are inspired by and named after Rousteing’s top model muses.

For instance, the rose gold lip colour with flecks of gold glitter, “Confidence”, is informed by the Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes while the timeless red shade, “Domination” is an ode to femme fatale Lara Stone.

Aside from the more wearable reds, pinks, plums and berries, there are also more adventurous shades like a forest green, vibrant blue and even black, so you’re bound to find a lippie no matter what your colour preference is.

We would be remiss not to mention a lipstick would only cost you $28. Who would have ever thought that buying Balmain without blowing your paycheque would ever be possible?

If you’re ready to embrace the finer things in life (minus the hefty price tag), these limited edition lipsticks are now available on Zalora. The collection will then later be sold at select drugstores that carry L’oreal products from February. A 12-piece L’oreal vault of the entire lipstick collection that retails for $250 is also available on the site.
