When Claire Au created skincare brand Auolive (pronounced “olive”) in May 2016, what she really wanted to manufacture was more time for women – time for self-love despite climbing the corporate ladder, overcoming hurdles as an entrepreneur, and juggling motherhood and work.

“I grew up with a three-step routine – cleanse, tone and moisturise. But over time, this multiplied to include serum, pre-essence, lotion, essence, pre-mask, et cetera. Skincare was getting confusing, overwhelming and time-consuming. When I spoke to other women, I discovered they felt the same way,” shares Au.

The 35-year-old mother launched four skincare products – Day Glower ($118), a brightening moisturiser with SPF30 and UVA protection that’s also an anti-ageing serum and makeup primer; Night Booster ($138), a collagen-boosting restorative moisturiser; Eyes Lifter ($128), a water-based eye serum to hydrate, firm and brighten; and Radiance Revealer ($58), an exfoliating gel.

They streamline your beauty routine so that it won’t take you longer than a minute each morning and night.

“Auolive sets out to debunk the myth that skincare has to be time-consuming and confusing to be effective. We want to help multi-tasking, time-starved women hack the conventional multi-step regimen. Why spend 30 to 45 minutes a day on it when you can have glowing skin in one minute?” she asks.

“We consulted multiple dermatologists and cosmetics scientists, and found that multifunctional products can be as effective as targeted ones if they are intelligently formulated with multi-tasking ingredients. Ginkgo biloba leaf extract, for instance, is an antioxidant, and has revitalising and firming benefits,” she explains.

Au spent two years working with skincare experts to create her brand’s products. She tested many formulations before deciding on a Swiss formula. A true Singapore brand, Auolive is manufactured in Singapore, and its products are free of parabens, artificial colourants, sulphates and mineral oil.

Auolive is available at Tangs Vivocity, selected Naiise branches and www.auolive.com.
