According to Feng shui principles, having bright, smooth skin on your forehead is supposed to bring luck at work and in your social life; Having a high, firm nose will attract wealth; Plump and rosy lips affects your communication skills; And a defined, balanced chin and jawline points to prosperity and well-being. But what if you don’t have those features, or need some help getting them? Aesthetic medical treatments like fillers and botox have given us a way. We ask Dr Siew Tuck Wah, medical director of Radium Aesthetics Medical for advice.

1. For a clear forehead

Forehead wrinkles can be smoothed out with dermal fillers. Belotero Balance is the best dermal filler for plumping up fine lines and brightening the skin on the forehead, as it is very soft, giving very natural results, according to Dr Siew. One session should last 6 to 9 months.

In some cases, Botulinum Toxin or botox is required to relax overly strong forehead muscles and frown lines. Xeomin is Dr Siew’s Botulinum Toxin brand of choice. Being a pure toxin without complex proteins (compared to other brands), Xeomin supposedly does not cause your body to develop resistance against it, even after multiple treatment sessions.

The treatments are administered via tiny injections, with minimal pain after anesthesia with a numbing cream. Belotero Balance filler lasts 6 to 9 months, while Xeomin lasts 3 to 6 months.

Price: Belotero Balance Filler, from $450; Xeomin, from $200.

2. For a high, firm nose

Non-surgical nose augmentation to improve the nose bridge height, projection, and nose angles can be achieved with dermal filler injections.

Belotero Intense is a firm textured filler with excellent sculpting properties. Dr Siew says he will recommend this for improving the appearance of the nose.

The treatment is done via an injection at the nose tip and there should be minimal pain after local anesthesia. The filler lasts 9 to 12 months.

Price: Starts from $898.

3. For rosy, plump lips

Aging causes our lips to lose definition and look thin and pinched. The lips can regain its youthfulness again with the use of hyaluronic acid fillers. Belotero fillers are excellent for improving the definition and volume of the lips. I use a combination of Belotero Balance and Belotero Intense to achieve beautiful, natural looking lips.

The procedure is comfortable with local anesthesia, however, there will be some swelling which can last 1 to 2 days, and each treatment will last you 9 months, according to Dr Siew.

Price: Starts from $898.

4. To strengthen a weak chin

Radiesse filler is a volumising filler which works by stimulating your body’s own collagen. When injected into the chin, it sculpts the chin depending on what is lacking – making it longer, broader, or more projected. The procedure is supposedly comfortable with local anesthesia, and lasts about 1 year after each session.

Price: The treatment costs $1588.

Xeomin and Belotero are part of a multifaceted portfolio of minimally invasive aesthetic products offered by Merz Aesthetics.
