Most of us are pretty obsessed with Korean beauty. Whether its makeup or skincare, we are willing to splurge on K-beauty. Although there are plenty of brands available in Singapore now (this year alone, Mamonde and April Skin have already made their local debut), there are still so many different brands online that are unavailable here. So with a new year ahead of us, here’s our wishlist of the brands we hope will be brought into Singapore in 2018.

1. Klairs

If you are travelling up to Seoul anytime soon, you can find this beauty brand in A Land (a multi-brand boutique). This skincare brand targets sensitive skin and is formulated without any harsh chemicals and additives. The products includes only the most essential of ingredients promote healthier skin.

One product you have to try is the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop. It contains five per cent vitamin C, fights premature ageing and is also an effective brightening ingredient. I mixed it in with a hydrating serum or moisturiser and applied it twice weekly. My skin was visibly more radiant and it even helped to fade my acne scars, even the ones on my back.

Another product I love is the Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner. It contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate and balances out skin’s pH level. It also calms skin and leaves it feeling fresh.

2. Pony Effect

Park Hye Min, better known as Pony, is one of South Korea’s most popular beauty gurus. She has already amassed a huge following on her Youtube channel (it has over 3 million subscribers at press time) and is known for her awesome makeup looks and in-depth reviews. Her beauty brand is a representation of her love for makeup and consists of a variety of high-quality products to help achieve the looks she always creates.

One of my favourite products is the Pony Effect Defense Longwear Cushion Foundation. It is lightweight and gives full coverage with just one application, while protecting skin fromenvironmental aggressors. It is my go-to cushion when I have late nights out as it is super long-wearing and does not settle into my fine lines.

3. Huxley

The first thing most people notice about Huxley products? Its super Instagrammable packaging. But besides that, the Korean skincare brand is also known for using cactus oils for hydration, a practice that many women in the Sahara desert have been using for years. The products are also infused with prickly pear cactus extract to leave skin feeling supple, hydrated and soft.

The product I am obsessed with is the Huxley Oil Essence as it is very lightweight, gentle and does not leave it feeling greasy or sticky. Infused with acai berry and Sahara cactus oil, this helps to deliver long-lasting hydration and is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins to fight premature ageing.

4. Neogen

This innovative brand is known for developing advanced, high-performance, and cruelty-free formulas, as well as its six-core bio-technology formulas which deliver the benefits of natural ingredients to the skin.

Neogen’s Dermalogy Bio-Peel Gentle Gauze Peeling Lemon gets my vote as it uses a unique three-layer pad technology that deeply penetrates into skin to clean out pore-clogging debris and gently remove dead skin cells without irritating skin. The star ingredient in this product, lemon, is rich in vitamin C and antioxidants to give you brighter skin. I love how my skin looks visibly brighter and feels so much smoother after applying it.

5. Pyunkang Yul

I have sensitive and acne-prone skin so when it comes to my skincare products, I always choose ones that are gentle so as to not cause any breakouts and irritation. When I heard about Pyungkang Yul’s ties with Pyunkang Hospital, which is known for treating patients with atopic skin ailments, I had to try their products. The brand believes in using as little ingredients as possible and the products are infused with extracts from traditional Korean medicinal herbs.

Pyungkang Yul’s Moisture Serum is a milky serum that is super lightweight and is formulated to help skin find its optimal proportion of moisture and oil for a balanced, healthy complexion. It contains coptis japonica root extract and oilve oil to calm and cool skin while providing intense hydration.

6. A’Pieu

This brand is known for using mild ingredients. It targets young women in their 20s, which is also why many of the products are really affordable, who suffer from sensitive skin. Another thing the brand is known for: its ultra cute collaborations with animated characters such as Doraemon and Rilakkuma.

The A’Pieu Water Light Tint is super pigmented and glides easily onto my puckers. It also does not stick onto dry patches and is very long-lasting as well. Formulated with floral and fruit extracts, this lip tint is super hydrating and does not dry out lips at all.
