How to massage your face with a facial roller so that it’s slimmer and firmer

Rolling good times (and more defined facial features) ahead

If you’re like me and like most busy / lazy women, you probably have to push yourself to even thoroughly remove your makeup at the end of the day. And then you hurriedly smear on your skincare – serum, eye cream, moisturiser and get on with life, or Netflix, or resume childcare duties if you’re a mum.

Then you hear about all the benefits of facial massage, like firmer facial contours, improved penetration of your skincare products, better skin mirco-circulation, and all the age-preventing benefits, and you think… Maybe I should give facial massage a try.

Yes! You should. I recently received the ReFa Carat Face, a premium Japanese facial massaging tool, along with the ReFa Face Up Cream, a lifting and anti-ageing cream that’s rich in vitamins and nano-ingredients to nourish skin.

The massage tool in particular is such a pleasure to use I’ve actually found time to pamper my face. And the icing on the cake? After using it daily for 2 week (just a minute or two each day) I found the my skin quality and firmness has improved, and I have less puffiness and water retention in my face too. Coincidence? I think not.

Here’s what I’ve been doing:

Along the jawline

Rolling up and down along the jawline gives a firm pinching sensation. This step is so good for firming up sagging jowls. As you know, we all stare down at our mobile devices a bit too often, and this causes double chin and less defined jawline.

On the cheek

This just feels so good. The rollers kneads the tired muscles that we use to smile and talk all day, and eases tension in your cheeks.

Under the eyes

Using one roller ball, gently roll the area under your eyes. This stimulates the circulation there and helps to get rid of puffiness and eventually lightens dark circles too. My eyes look less tired.

Neck and décolletage

I apply a neck and décolletage cream and then roll the device in an upwards motion on the area. This feels so relaxing. Also because we seldom massage these areas, much less apply any skincare on it, this forces me to give some TLC here. Also, I had been noticing some lines appearing on my neck, so this allowed me to do something about it.

The ReFa CARAT FACE ($279) and ReFa FACE-UP CREAM ($72) are now available across all Sephora stores, Takashimaya, TANGS, Robinsons The Heeren and Robinsons Raffles City.
