The skin around the eyes is thin, and prone to dryness and wrinkles. That’s why we use eye creams. But the skin around the lips is just as thin, and possibly even more delicate. All the talking, laughing, yawning, eating, drinking and kissing you do throughout the day – that’s wrinkle central right there.
What’s a girl to do? Use a dual-duty eye-and-lip cream to tackle both these thin, dry and fragile areas at the same time. Such creams are richer, so they moisturise better, and they’re more convenient than using two different products. Just twice a day, and skin should start feeling less tight and looking more hydrated.
Here are the latest creams we like, all at different price ranges:
Shiseido Future Solution LX Eye and Lip Contour Regenerating Cream E ($192)
Tip: If you’re using your fingers to apply eye care, experts recommend the ring finger as it has the lightest touch and is less likely to pull.
Sisley Sisleya L’Integral Anti-age Eye and Lip Contour Cream ($250)
This reduces puffiness and dark circles around the eyes, and blurs vertical lines above the lips and wrinkles at the corners of the mouth. A little goes a long way with this cream that doesn’t leave skin sticky or greasy. Plus, it comes with a limited-edition cool-tip massage tool to help reduce puffiness and dark circles.
La Mer Genaissance de La Mer The Eye and Expression Cream ($600)
This soothes redness and itchiness, helps skin feel firmer and suppler, and minimises the appearance of wrinkles and puffiness. A cool-to-the-touch magnetic massage tool is attached to the top of the jar for easy access.
Tip: When applied to the mouth area, the creams are meant to go around the lips, not on them. But we found that applying a thin layer directly onto lips before bedtime makes them really soft and smooth the next morning.
