A good face mask does wonders for the skin. It can draw out impurities harbouring in your skin, quench dehydrated skin, control the production of sebum and even reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Even though face masks are a godsend, using one face mask alone is not enough to heal and address all of your skin concerns because different areas of your face have very different requirements and concerns. For example, your T-Zone might be oily but your cheeks might be dry. Instead of trying to find a one size (or in this case, one mask) fits all approach, try the multi-masking skincare trend.
Multi-masking essentially refers using multiple face masks on different parts of the face to address various skin concerns at one time. Before you hop on the selfie-friendly multi-masking bandwagon, here are some of our favourite picks for multi-masking.

Product claims: Formulated with three pure clays including kaolin, montmorillonite, Moroccan lava clay and rosemary extract, the creamy mask promises to purify and mattify the skin in just 10 minutes. The mask also claims to slough off dead skin cells on the skin’s surface and reduce excess sebum production.
Our verdict: I concentrated a thin layer of product on the sides of my nose, where my pores are larger and more noticeable. Like with any other clay mask, you would experience a slight tightening effect with this one when you rinse it off.
I was pleasantly surprised by this mask because it really delivers what it promises, my skin feels smoother and my pores are less visible. Apart from placing the mask on my nose area, I would recommend placing this mask on your cheek area if your makeup was thick during the day because this mask really does a good job in decongesting the skin.
Because of its thick consistency, it’s quite a struggle to wash the mask off. Rather than tugging at your skin to get the mask off, dissolve the face mask with damp fingers in a circular motion.

Product claims: Formulated for troubled skin, this Cambrian blue clay based mask promises to soak up impurities, calm and balance the skin.
Our verdict: You can apply this mask as a spot treatment or swathe it over areas prone to acne. If over-the-counter spot treatments dry out your skin, this non-drying treatment might be a good alternative. This spot treatment does a great job in taking down the swelling of angry and inflammed pimples while still being gentle on the skin.

Product claims: Charcoal and white china clay combine forces in this facial mask that is designed to draw out dirt and impurities in your pores and keep the excess oil production under control.
Our verdict: I would focus this mask on areas on my face that are more acne-prone like my cheeks and chin. Even though this is a charcoal and clay based mask, it did not dry out my skin. After rinsing off the mask, my skin feels smoother and by the end of the day, my T-zone that tends to get oily looks significantly less shiny.
Because this mask is formulated with moisturising ingredients like glycerin, you don’t have to worry about the mask drying out your complexion. If you have dry skin, make sure to moisturise really well after rinsing off the mask.

Product claims: Dearpacker is a skincare brand under The Face Shop Nature Collection that specialises in face masks. This concoction of black tea, black rose, rose extract and ginseng extract boasts benefits like improving the skin’s elasticity, reducing the appearance of fine lines and hydrating the skin.
Our verdict: Life is not a bed of roses, but your face mask can certainly smell like one. The first thing I noticed about this mask was its pleasant rose scent. If you are sensitive towards artificial fragrances, however, you might want to give this face mask a skip.
This gel like mask glides smoothly over the skin like honey. After rinsing it off with water, my skin feels softer and plumper. My laugh lines were also less noticeable. If you have oily to combination skin, apply it only to areas of your face where it gets parched and dry because the texture of this mask can feel quite heavy on the skin.

Product claims: This soothing gel-type mask contains real natural ingredients like rose petals, essence of handpicked roses from Britain and rosehip oil from Chile which the label says to hydrate, soothe and tone the skin.
Our verdict: I placed this mask on the apples of my cheeks, where I usually experience redness. I really like how lightweight yet moisturising this mask is. It soothes the irritation and redness on my face while hydrating my skin. If your skin is feeling extra dry, apply a thin layer before blotting off the excess product with a towel or tissue instead of rinsing the mask off.

Product claims: This range of clay masks that is made with volcanic scoria from Jeju is designed specifically for multi-masking. These masks come in seven different colours and each mask is tailored to combat a specific skin concern or condition like “brightening” or “purifying”. It also comes in different textures and consistencies to suit different skin types. The white mask that is infused with Jeju volcanic clusters and sea salt promises to curb excess sebum production and slough off dead skin cells on the surface of the skin.
Our verdict: After a long and stressful week, your skin might look rough, dull and dry. To battle signs of fatigue, I would use the refining mask on my T-zone along with the yellow brightening Vitamin C based mask on my under eye area and cheeks. The refining mask pack actually foams into a thick lather when it comes into contact with water so it actually serves the function of a mask as well as a cleanser. My face feels a lot cleaner and less congested after applying the mask.

Product claims: This eye gel targets dark eye circles and puffiness under eyes with ingredients like green tea extracts and Vitamin C derivatives.
Our verdict: Because it comes in a gel patch format, there is no mess involved so it’s great for soothing tired eyes especially when you are travelling. After applying the mask, my under eye area does appear brighter and less puffy. If you just pulled an all-nighter, try refrigerating the patches before putting them on your face for an extra cooling effect.
